Manuel King, 64 of Phoenix, passed away on April 30, 2011. Manuel was born in Brawley, California on September 17, 1946 the son of Arthur and Lillie Mae King, who preceded him in death. He grew up in Mesa, Arizona. He married Martha Handy (King) in 1970 and one child was born to this union. Manuel was devoted to his family, especially his daughter, his only child as well as devoted to his community and country. He served in the United States Marine Corp and did a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He worked in the construction industry for many years with MM Sundt Corp. and later with the Internal Revenue Service until his death. He was very active in the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) organization., where he served as post commander twice , district commander as well as holding state and national offices in the organization. He was also active in and held offices in the American Legion, AmVets and the Masonic organizations. He leaves to forever cherish his memory a beloved and devoted daughter, Krinda King, long time special friend Essie Ballew; sisters, Julia Cooper , Erma Hawkins: brothers, Samuel King, Frederick King (Mary Nell), and Charles King (Linda).
